And miadishes is my little corner of the internet!
I was a graphic designer in Portland back in 2015, and I loved feeding my coworkers after long nights at the studio. One rainy Thursday I whipped up a quick miso‑glazed salmon for a team lunch, and the rave that followed made me think, “Why not share this?” In March 2016 I launched miadishes as a simple WordPress blog, posting recipes on the side while still designing logos for local startups.
The blog grew faster than I expected. By the end of 2020 I was hitting 150,000 unique visitors a month, and the “30‑Minute Weeknight” series became the most shared post of the year. In 2022 I compiled my favorite 45 dishes into an e‑book that sold over 8,000 copies, and in January 2024 I started a weekly newsletter that now welcomes 12,300 food‑loving friends. The site has also added a searchable recipe index, a video tutorial hub, and a community forum where readers swap tips.
I now call Asheville, North Carolina home, where I live with my husband, our golden retriever Milo, and a houseplant collection that keeps growing. My favorite things are early‑morning hikes on the Blue Ridge, digging through crates of jazz vinyl on Saturday afternoons, and perfecting homemade gnocchi on a rainy night. When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me testing new coffee roasts or planning our next weekend getaway.
